We're in arms race with Russia — Facebook

Testifying before US senators in the wake of Facebook's data breach scandal and foreign interference in election, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has told them that his company will do everything to ensure fair polling takes place in India and other countries. Zuckerberg was seemingly trying to remind his audience that even though Facebook is now a global company with more monthly users than the number of people in most countries, it has a relatable origin story much like Apple's beginnings in a Silicon Valley garage.

During his round of questioning, Sasse said he was worried Facebook may decide it needs to "police a whole bunch of speech" as a result. "I run it, and I'm responsible for what happens here".

Moreover, Facebook banned Aleksandr Kogan, a Cambridge University researcher who leaked the data to Cambridge Analytica, from using Facebook data in 2015, and certified that "they had deleted all improperly acquired data", according to Zuckerberg. That was the low point. So this is an arms race, right?

In addition to saying he is sorry, Zuckerberg outlined the steps the company has taken to restrict outsiders' access to people's personal information.

He denied that Facebook, which has more than 2 billion monthly users across the world, was a monopoly.

"There are people in Russia whose job it is to try to exploit our systems and other internet systems".

"It is really impossible to fully understand a problem when you're doing a new thing."
I actually am not aware of a subpoena.

"Senator, that makes sense to me, and I think we should have our team follow up with yours to discuss the details around that more". Facebook says that although users gave permission to Mr Kogan's app to collect their information, selling it on was against the terms of service. "During the course of this hearing, these last four hours, you have been asked several critical questions for which you do not have answers".

Under the heading "Defend Facebook" were the words, "If attacked: Respectfully, I reject that". Therefore, the correct answer to Senator Graham's question would be that there is no large competitor to which users could just flock tomorrow, if they could.

You can go to the question mark at the top of your Facebook page and perform a privacy checkup.

The reward will be based on the impact of each report.
