Injury worried Brady, but didn't stop him — Patriots notebook

The Patriots will play the winner of the Vikings and Eagles game on Sunday evening. The Jaguars were young and muscular and raw and underrated, and they came with the punch-in-the-mouth power of Blake Bortles and running back Leonard Fournette.

"We hadn't moved the ball very well the whole half", Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "Defence played so great when they needed to". It was a crazy injury.

It was another emotional game for Patriots fans on Sunday. After the Patriots win, Belichick downplayed the seriousness of Brady's injury. "I didn't know that on Wednesday". Just how conservative of a move was it? Foles threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, showing poise, escapability and moxie in going 26 for 33.

One quarter later, coach Doug Pederson kept his foot on the gas. By the time he took the field, Brady had a black bandage on his right hand.

Ramsey was riding high after the Jaguars' division-round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, which led to the star corner confidently predicting Jacksonville would take down the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game en route to a Super Bowl title.

Super Bowl 52 will be in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The season, of course, did not end.

Patrick Robinson's spectacular 50-yard interception return got Philadelphia started.

It was crushing. The Jaguars are not assured of making it back to this point. Tommy Bohanon and Corey Grant were on the field at the same time (rare for a punt), a clear sign something was cooking.

It had been, as Amendola said, "stressful". "Tried to get it snapped and didn't get it off", said Bortles (23-36, 293 yards, one TD).

"This is the only event where we make a line that depends on public opinion", Kornegay said. They found a way. The way they went about their business. "There's so much more money from the public on this game than you would get from the so-called sharks".

Oddsmakers like the chances of Tom Brady winning a sixth Super Bowl ring, making the New England Patriots nearly a touchdown favorite to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. An 85-yard drive by the Patriots at the end of the first half gave them life. The drive stalled when Brady was sacked by Dante Fowler Jr., and New England settled for Stephen Gostkowski's 31-yard field goal.

THIRD DOWNS: Minnesota was the league's best team defending third downs and was third in converting them. After a 12-yard catch by Cooks, James White ran it in from the 1 to make it 14-10 with 55 seconds left. Torrey Smith had a 41-yard TD catch against double coverage in the third period. The Vikings' previously staunch defense yielded 456 yards.

Even on Sunday morning when Brady arrived at the stadium for work, he walked past the cameras with his hands planted firmly in the pockets of his parka, not giving anything away. Also inactive for the Patriots were wide receivers Kenny Britt and Bernard Reedy, linebacker David Harris, tight end Jacob Hollister, offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle (knee) and defensive tackle Alan Branch (knee). The Super Bowl over/under was set at 47.5.
