Las Vegas shooting: Filipino Marilou Danley not a person of interest

U.S. President Donald Trump visited Las Vegas on Wednesday, marking the first time since taking office that he has had to confront a major mass shooting.

But what motivated Paddock to kill dozens of strangers - and where he planned to strike next - remain a mystery.

Also, the weekend before the Las Vegas bloodbath, Paddock rented via Airbnb - and checked into - a condo in a 21-story luxury building in Las Vegas that overlooked the Life is handsome alternative music festival, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Tuesday.

"The barrel of the rifle - we could not see muzzle flashes, from the angles I've seen on videos, which meant that he was. pulled back inside", Gagliano said.

Investigators are busy reconstructing Paddock's life, behavior and the people he encountered in the weeks leading up to the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said.

There were no immediate, obvious indications that Danley would fit the same bill, the person familiar with the case said, though they stressed that the investigation was still early.

In these photographs, obtained by the German newsmagazine Bild on Tuesday, a portion of Paddock's two-room suite is visible. He had checked into the hotel on Thursday. For her part, he said, Danley made compromises such as doing without perfume, hair spray and bubble baths in order to not set off his allergies.

"I will tell you that everybody that should have lived, lived", Coates said.

He died several years ago, according to Eric Paddock, his son and Stephen's brother.

"I was trying to talk to him and he wasn't responding", said Heather, an orthopedic surgeon. Nearly 90 people were killed by gunmen inspired by Islamic State at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris during a performance by Eagles of Death Metal in 2015.

Once again, a stunned nation was left to grapple with a city riven by tragedy and a resurgent debate over gun control and gun violence.

Stephen Paddock, the suspected shooter in the attack on concertgoers in Las Vegas on Sunday that killed at least 59 and injured at least 527, was the son of a famous criminal. They clear every room and look for injured people.

Riccio says the undercover officers assigned to the marathon "are going to be intermingling with the crowd, they're going to be around runners, they're going to be at the finish line, they're going to be at the start line".

"It was chaos - people just running for their lives".

Authorities described a grim amount of preparation.

Paddock also used surveillance cameras to monitor police approaches to his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino - including a camera he positioned in the peephole of the door. The cache of 23 weapons inside the gunman's Las Vegas suite.

At casinos where he was a regular, he was such a valued customer that staff obliged his requests to wash his room's carpet with plain water. "That's it", one sister said. Thousands of rounds of ammunition were found in his Mesquite home and an ingredient used in explosives was discovered inside the shooter's auto. Several pounds of ammonium nitrate, a material used to make explosives, were found in Paddock's auto. And while neighbors described Paddock as friendly, he wasn't close to them. He was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot after police busted into his room. He had apparently pointed a silver, black-handled revolver into his mouth and pulled the trigger.

Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, is back in the United States after a weekslong trip overseas, and is at the center of the investigation into the mass shooting.

She arrived in Manila on Sept. 15, flew to Hong Kong on Sept. 22, returned to Manila on Sept. 25 and was there until she flew to Los Angeles on Tuesday night, according to a Philippine immigration official. A law enforcement official confirmed the Federal Bureau of Investigation is present in Reno. Additionally, the owners of gun stores he had frequented told the media that Paddock had passed their background checks.

"We have to establish what his motivation was first", Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.
