Get your flu shot - Why you need it every year?

The number of influenza cases so far this fall is outrunning last year's pace by more than 3-to-1, San Diego County health officials reported today.

In the United States, flu season runs roughly from October through May.

Working in partnership with Public Health England, the campaign is aimed at encouraging eligible people to ensure that they take-up their free flu vaccination. If you catch the virus right after getting the flu shot, it's just a coincidence.

"But influenza is unpredictable", Herlihy said.

"I'm certainly not presuming that there's going to be doom and gloom and I don't believe that's naïve optimism whatsoever", he said. Trivalent vaccines protect against three strains of flu, while quadrivalent protects against four strains of the virus. "It doesn't happen often", said Colby.

Mr. Davies is joining calls being made by Public Health Wales urging those in at risk groups to make an appointment with their local GP or go to their community pharmacy and get the free flu vaccine soon. Each year, we see both types of flu throughout North Idaho.

"It's just the tip of the iceberg", she said.

The 219 flu-related deaths from last season was up from 59 deaths the prior season and 218 deaths in the 2014-15 season. But why people need their flu shot every year? No outbreaks were declared. "When coupled with the potential for a third of flu cases being transmitted by asymptomatic individuals, it means patients are at particular risk".

They are available at county health departments across the state. "So it's not a quadrivalent, it's a trivalent, but it does offer that immune response". So now is the time to make plans to get flu shots for yourself and your family.

"We have the strong likelihood of hospitals being inundated with people suffering flu".

Global Positioning System and pharmacies will also be paid for vaccinating morbidly obese patients.

"They think it's diarrhea and upset stomach", he said.

"The symptoms of flu usually develop over a matter of a few hours and include a high temperature, sore muscles, dry cough, headache and sore throat". "This underscores how important it is for all of us to take precautions now to avoid influenza infections".
