For a second consecutive week, the Lions looked sharp on defense. Little else after that made the sell-out crowd at MetLife Stadium cheer on a night where they honored the 2007 Super Bowl team. NY was forced to play musical chairs on the offensive line when Bobby Hart reaggravated his ankle two plays in and did not return. Dallas ran 71 plays, in large part because New York's offense could not get anything going. Stafford didn't dominate through the air.
He also mentioned self-inflicted wounds as being a culprit for the struggles on offense. It's to the point where 20 points is a miracle. That dates back to when Martha Firestone Ford fired everybody.
The rivalry between the Lions and Giants dates all the way back to 1930, but once the National Football League expanded in the 1950s, they didn't meet up every year. Taking exception to that, Collins said a few words, Ebron said a few words back and they got face-to-face.
SACK MACHINE: Ansah had only two sacks last season in an injury plagued year.
On the Lions' second touchdown, Stafford used his feet to buy time in the backfield. That pressure has already led to four interceptions, one being a pick six. No one feels sorry for us. They still have the Falcons, Steelers, and Packers before the first half of the season ends. Download the Final Play app for your phone or tablet, scroll to the Final Word section and tell me about your conundrum. In both games this season, Stafford has logged a 71 percent completion percentage. The play was symbolic of the Giants start to the season where they haven't exactly helped themselves. At home, the Lions have a chance.
The Giants were going for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal at Detroit's 2-yard line with just over five minutes left in the third.
For the second straight week, the New York Giants looked absolutely awful. Jamal Agnew would receive the kick at his 22-yard line and 88-yards for the punt return touchdown. He did some good things in the ball game yesterday. The Giants had just 62 rushing yards. The Lions needed someone to step up and take some pressure off of Matthew Stafford, and Abdullah did that tonight.
Earlier, Stafford found Marvin Jones for a 27-yard touchdown in the first quarter and picked out Eric Ebron for a seven-yarder in the second after NY had levelled things up with their first touchdown of the season. For the rookie tight end, it was the first touchdown catch of his career.
