Trump thanks Russia's Putin for expelling USA diplomats

"It is a complex logistical matter, moving people out to reach the limit imposed by the Russian government", Sullivan said. The White House did not immediately respond to questions about the president's remarks.

Instead of standing up for the men and women who selflessly serve their country, the president - once again - took the side of the man who helped put him in the White House, thanking the Russian president for cutting the US government's payroll. "Energy is a disaster, low energy prices is a disaster for Russian Federation", he added.

Since then though, Trump's Russian Federation agenda has been bogged down in allegations that Moscow helped him get elected, and a backlash from Congress that resulted last week in the United States imposing a new set of sanctions on Moscow. But given Trump's willingness to contradict his Secretary of State, it's not immediately clear if this is that response. "Nicholas Burns, the State Department's third-ranking official under Republican President George W. Bush, called Trump's comments 'grotesque, '" according to Reuters.

It's great having a ten-year-old for President.

Trump, who made Thursday's comments to reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, said he was "very surprised" by raids on the Virginia home of his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in July.

In response on Thursday, Trump said, "Maybe it wasn't tough enough", referring to his own comments from earlier in the week.

It is not clear whether Trump was serious with his remarks. In fact, Trump is actually thankful!

The sanctions were applied on Russian Federation due, in part, to its alleged attempts to steer last year's presidential election in Trump's favor.

What he means is that the whole meeting might have been arranged so that it could be discovered and cast the kind of doubt on the Trump administration that has been driving the president to distraction.

The United States and Russian Federation are at loggerheads over Moscow's armed intervention in Ukraine and Washington's imposition of economic sanctions on Kremlin allies.

The kicker, as the Daily Beast's Spencer Ackerman pointed out on Twitter, is that the United States still has to pay those USA diplomats and spies.

When the 2012 Magnitsky Act legislation put pressure on state human rights abusers in Russia, Putin responded by banning the adoption of Russian orphans by USA families.

Trump has voiced his criticism about that the probe, but he he said on Thursday he will not fire Mueller. "Their president is a jester, a puppet".
