Paulie Malignaggi Details Two Sparring Sessions With 'Dirtbag' Conor McGregor

Former boxer Paulie Malignaggi continues to hog the limelight following his apparent falling out with Conor McGregor.

A week after walking out of Conor McGregor's training camp, his former sparring partner has launched into another attack on the Irishman.

Malignaggi, who was also concerned about sparring for 12 rounds, added: "The amusing thing about the push down was this - it was during one of his worst moments". My reactions and timing started to come back so I got way better from the first one. "Started becoming so hittable that I was putting more weight on my shots, and of course the body shots started affecting more and more".

Conor McGregor became known as a fighter with a mystical ability to defy the odds because of his stunning upset victory over Jose Aldo, the former UFC featherweight champion.

"I get to the gym the next day and he has all sorts of dignitaries there; [former UFC CEO] Lorenzo Fertita, [UFC president] Dana White, and his agent", Malignaggi continued.

"Totally different", Aldo said when asked if a repeat of McGregor's shocking December 2015 featherweight-title victory in the UFC octagon can be repeated against Mayweather (49-0) in the T-Mobile Arena boxing ring on August 26. I want to say things that make you look good. "I mean, yeah, it works".

For the most part, though, the feeling from the boxing community, this writer included, is that whatever went down in the sparring sessions between Malignaggi and McGregor, with all due respect to Malignaggi, he ain't Mayweather.

When he got back to Las Vegas he was once again told that he's going to spar with McGregor the next day.

"I think he's been successful in doing that".

I actually wasn't too thrilled that they wanted me to go 12 rounds 24 hours after getting off a cross-country flight. "Mainly on conditioning, it wasn't anything tactical really that he was better than me at".

"Would I fight him?" I'm not going to say whether it was a KO, or a knockdown, or a push, because I don't know so I can't comment, but Paulie is adamant that it was a push. Everyone knows who I am.

"After Mayweather, when he gets lots of millions of dollars, he'll probably never fight again", the Brazilian star predicted. The recently retired Malignaggi possesses the gift of gab to keep the trash talk interesting, but there are other aspects of his game that would make a fight with McGregor quite intriguing. I didn't want to hurt the guy.
