Mount suggested an attempt to shoot down the missile might be exactly what Kim Jong Un wants, as missing even one projectile would be an embarrassment for the US military.

The U.S. military has said it plans to increase its presence on Guam and will move thousands of U.S. Marines now stationed in Japan to the island between 2024 and 2028. Consumer-focused companies and technology stocks slumped. They noted the S&P 500 managed to close only 0.04% lower, extending that run of tight moves to 15 days.

"Trump's rhetoric appears to be the sternest by a USA president since 1993, when Bill Clinton, during a visit to the North-South border, warned that it would be pointless for Pyongyang to develop nuclear weapons, because if they ever used them, 'it would be the end of their country, '" BMI Research said in a note on Wednesday.
