Google fixes a whopping 42 security issues in latest patch

After the Google Pixel and Pixel XL had witnessed a lukewarm response in the Indian market a year ago, it would be interesting to see whether the second generation of Pixel phones can attract eye-balls or not. If the device shown in the image is the real Pixel 2, fans could be disappointed with having to settle for an iterative revision of last year's handset.

Coming to the rendered image, it seems that the company might cut bezels on each side, as compared with the previous Pixel design.

Today, a blog called Phone Arena has taken what it claims are "CAD blueprints and leaked live photos of the device", and used them to create renders of the Google Pixel 2. It looks like Google's strategy is to offer up two flagship smartphones this year with a clear design difference between the two handsets. Just like Apple and HTC, Google has made plans to ditch the 3.5mm jack, offering instead an USB Type-C port for all purposes.

Should You Wait For The Pixel 2?

The leaked images also show the phone's back panel.

As we get closer to the official announcement of Google's new Pixel phones, the leaks are starting to pick up. In an analysis published yesterday of Blass' leaked images, Kelly called the combination of a bezel-bordered front display and a single camera in the rear "commercial suicide". The update was delivered in two batches - the first batch fixed 28 flaws whereas the second one fixed 14 additional flaws.

The Pixel phones are being heavily discounted by Google at the moment.

The remaining three colors are just guesswork, with the source showing the Google Pixel 2 in silver, red, and light brown which looks like burnt umber.

We were very impressed with the Google Pixel, awarding it a high 4.5/5 score in our full product review. The security patch should also be available for flagship smartphone from other manufacturers like Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony and Xiaomi.
